Scuba Diving in Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is an authentic paradise for sea lovers with water temperatures between 18 (in february) and 24 (october/november) degrees Celsius. Prevailing sea currents giving rise to large banks of fish close to the coast, and the amazing sea bed features are the region’s key natural advantages. Gran Canaria is a great diving resort that’s open all year round. There are interesting scuba diving areas spread all around the coast of Gran Canaria.. For divers of all levels there are amazing dive spots You want to find out why so many people are addicted to scuba diving? Shake off your stress, come and discover all the magic hidden under the sea in Gran Canaria.

Arinaga – El Cabron
In the rugged coastal zone of the Agüimes municipality the best dive site on the Island can be found: El Cabrón. The richness of marine life in the area is so great that it has been nominated to be included in the future Arinaga Marine Reserve.

This area is considered as one of the top 5 dive sites in Spain. As there are different entries and exits it offers dives for all levels, from starters to professionals, all will be amazed by the variety of life and beautiful marine landscapes.

Different entries from volcanic rocks give way to a lowering reef that goes from 6 – 12 meters across the dive site. It’s very common to see damselfish, parrotfish, trumpets, barracudas, nudibranches, moray eels…..

There is a drop off to about 23 metres where we find caves, cracks and arches that enjoy the more technical divers. The sandy bottom is the home of the stingrays, angelsharks and a hugh bank of grunts that also gives its name to a area in El Cabron: the Roncadores.

For the more experienced divers we have a area with gerardias and gorgonian corals with a depth of about 30 metres, often current that can be moderated – high. On the way to the gerardias and the gorgonian corals we find: groupers, barracudas, amberjacks and sardine shoals but also angelsharks and different types of rays.

El Cabrón surprises you in each of your dives and you’ll be happy that you were able to dive and enjoy the astonishing underwater world.

Sardina del Norte
Sardina dives are well known for their simplicity. Access the water from the old staircase port (the brave can jump from the top). We distinguish two different areas. The first covers the right profile of the cliff, reaching 16 meters deep. Banks of grunts, sardines, barracudas, garden eels etc …. The second area covers the central lower sandy bay with rocks. Electric rays, butterfly rays, octopus, morays, seahorses, (giant) anemones, nudibranches, sepias …… anything is possible. The angelshark is nearly all year around in the sandy area of the bay.

Arinaga – Risco Verde
Risco Verde is not far from the El Cabrón beach. It offers easy, full of small fish and sometimes big visitors as butterfly rays, electric rays etc. But also the angelshark can be found here. The max. depth is about 13 metres and this makes it a dive site for all ages and levels. The entrance and exit are fairly easy and for night dives it’s one of our favourite sites.

The bottom can be sandy, rocky but also covered with seaweed, many little, tiny sealife can be found.

If we go futher out of the bay we will find one of the biggest grunts schools of Gran Canaria. Current is common here and the max. depth can be up to 20 metres.
